of p/s...

i text this to both puteri and megat when the bus i was boarding from kl about to leave:

mommy boarded transnasional bus at 4.30 pm, frm puduraya. c both of u later!
lurve, mommy!

p/s puteri ada basuh baju?

and here's megat's reply:

K and p/s chor y.e.s. :-)

hmm... looks like something has to be taught here. or else i'll ask him first of what was he meant by that. or whether he knew of what was it mean. i know, sometimes not all acronyms are understandable by certain people especially kids. i did that just to make sure that they could learn. i know they will! :)

according to the free dictionary p.s. (sometimes i wrote it as p/s) or postscript means a message added at the end of a letter, after the signature [late latin postscribere to write after].

so basically p.s.s. means "post scriptum scriptum" which is the complete formula of the shorter "p.s." (written after what has been written)

if you mean an additional postscript, than it is p.p.s. : post post scriptum. nevertheless, sometimes i would write both of them without any dots: ps and pps.

updates... coming up!

i have just arrived from kuala lumpur around 7.45 pm or so. this time i went there by transnasional bus; easy as it is since i was alone... as you could see, besides that there are so many access to public transports i.e. lrt, commuter, monorail and such in the city in order for me to move about easily.

pic of my cousin yaya and i, is courtesy of sawanila.com

and when i went there, i didn't go for one particular reason only. in fact normally there were so many errands to do in a trip, no matter whether it was such a quick one or not. so puh-leaseee... it doesn't mean that i have to blog everything. for an example, don't tell me that i must blog about my appointments too, right. its rather confidential for me, so it will stay as it is. now i hope that i have clarified everything regards to one of my blogging styles *phew*

so as some of you may knew already by now that i attended the "berbuka puasa bersama nuffnang di the apartment klcc". more updates on this and(/or) whatever i think that is bloggable will be coming up very very soon!!!... you see, sometimes its not that i can't do live blogging with my dell whenever or wherever i were, but the thing is times are so jealous of me! whatever it is i will still try my very best to continue blogging no matter what. at least, its better late than never! at the meantime, do click on the above pic for so many wonderful and great pics by sawanila.com [remarks: diese and i launched kheirul's camera for that day's pics occay? hehee...]. and here i would like to thank kheirul for all the wonderful pics. i tell you what... i am very sure that one of these days you would aspect one of them to be a profile pic, like what i did for smashpop's pic here! takpe kan, kheirul kan?... ;)

dark sky festival

do you believe it or not, if i tell you that i love astronomy? going out and by just looking at the night sky is something that i just love to do.

width="400"

well, i had heard about dark sky cities being built, but i just recently heard about the dark sky festival in harmony florida. it is is being held to get the word out to the public about the importance of dark skies! also, it’s an amazing way to check out some astronomy!

did you know that there is “light pollution”? and that it harms wildlife, especially birds? national geographic magazine had a great article about it a few months back. they even showed a map where you could see the brightest areas; it was very eye opening!

we sure have seen the effects of light pollution when we have tried to go out and see the planets, nebula, and other stars. even the milky way is getting harder and harder to see without going all the way up into the mountains. in fact, even down by the lake, where there isn’t as much development, there is still a lot of light coming from the surrounding cities.

anyway, if you are interested in things like this, even if you can’t make it to florida, be sure to check out the dark sky festival at harmony website to learn more about light pollution and why they are holding the festival.

of "i'll do that tomorrow"

are you reading this blog when you should be doing something else? it is very likely that a deadline is looming, but you work better under pressure, right?

excuses, excuses, that’s all you hear from the great procrastinators. a procrastinator, loves a hurdle, welcomes a problem, and takes on any excuse to deny responsibility for their actions.

when you question a procrastinator, they always have a valid reason for their actions, or inaction, and it’s never their fault. there are just many opportunities, so many distractions that can keep a procrastinator from doing the job in hand. even when they claim they are overwhelmed with work, they will always stop for e-mails, coffee breaks, phone calls, and there’s always the internet—the greatest distraction of them all.

how do you spot a procrastinator? more often than not, they are very good at covering up their tracks. and their constant reasoning behind every action means that they do not even recognize the trait in themselves.

procrastinators are habitual.

was du heute besorgen kannst, das verschiebe nicht auf morgen
(translation: what you can do today, don't postpone until tomorrow).

this proverb reflects a german notion that working is very hard. they like to get things done and then focus and move on to the next thing to do. they don't like to postpone work. it is better to get work done as soon as possible to get it out of the way. germans like to get as much as possible accomplished in a day. they think that things you postpone until tomorrow you might never get done.

the guitar

width="225"

i have just watched "the guitar" a while a go... at least to ease the minds and a like... ;)

it's hard to think of the accurate words to describe "the guitar". "ridiculous", "overdramatic", and "oxygen channel after dark" are all words and phrases that spring to mind. but mostly, it's just bad.

basically, the plot is this: melody wilder is sick. she has cancer. her doc gives her one or two months to live. in addition to this, she gets laid off from her job and ends a relationship with a man she's apparently dating (i gathered... i wasn't entirely sure what was going on) to add up to pretty much the worst day ever. melody almost kills herself, but notices an ad for short-term loft apartment rentals and goes for it, completely abandoning her apartment and all the stuff in it (melody isn't much of one for moving her stuff with her, it turns out).

what follows is a kind of bisexual, white NYC "last holiday". melody starts spending money left and right, buying all kinds of swanky clothes and furniture for her apartment. she also buys a guitar, and a bunch of amps she doesn't really need (it looks like she's getting ready to host a rock concert in her loft) because of some childhood dream of owning a guitar that never got fulfilled. oh! and before i forget, there's that bisexual thing: melody has sex with the guy who keeps delivering all her packages and the gal who keeps delivering all her pizzas. all this without ever leaving the apartment!

things keep getting more and more implausible, to the point of utter laughability. all the characters, including the female lead, are totally two-dimensional, barely explained, and chock-full of stereotype fulfillment. here's an example: the pizza delivery girl is both a) italian and b) getting married to an abusive boyfriend with mob connections. other characters, such as melody's boyfriend who breaks up with her in the first ten minutes of the movie, should seem more important than they appear (and they appear very little, mostly as incidental plot devices). finally the whole plot structure collapses and the movie just goes flat, at which point it has the good sense to end.

the thing that gets me the most about this movie isn't the terribly goofy plot, nor the more-intimate-than-necessary sex scenes. it's the message that materialism will heal you, and that an object can give you meaning and something to live for. melody seems to have found happiness. "the guitar" tells us that shopping cures all ills, even, it turns out (spoiler alert) cancer.

kuE' note:
  1. go here to read my other movie reviews =)

  2. btw watching this movie, already reminds me that hard rock hotel, penang is opening its door very soon (19 september) liao!... uhuu... nevertheless i am the one who is damn excited hiks!... and just for the record: i did pass-by the hotel some time in march when its still under renovations :~)

the day i thought about BlogDay!...

Blog Day 2009

two days passed, i eventually remembered of "BlogDay" that falls on the same day with my country's national day just now only! walaweiii... :P

two years ago, i was so anxious to type a blog post for BlogDay 2007 when i pasted its badges in this blog. besides that i also blogged about it 10 days earlier! such events always make me excited enough especially when it involves other bloggers from around the globe.

to those of you who dunno, bloggers will recommend five (5) new blogs that they find interesting to their blog visitors on BlogDay. this way, all blog readers will find themselves leaping around and discovering new, previously unknown blogs. find out more about it here.

since i missed this year's BlogDay, i think i'll just give it a pass. i will make sure that i won't do the same thing in the future =)

the day i think that this is craps:

Macaulay Culkin: Biological Father of Prince Michael Jackson II (Blanket)?

After more than two months of never-ending rumors regarding the paternity of Michael Jackson's three children, this latest one might take the cake.

At least for this week. You never know what will be reported next week.

The Sun (UK) is reporting this morning that sources close to Jackson claim that his youngest son, seven-year-old Blanket, is really the offspring of ...

Macaulay Culkin! read more here

pic courtesy of the hollywood gossip

who cares who the sperm donor was??? if michael dressed him, fed him, played with him, taught him and tucked him in at night, then HE was his father.

i beg you people of the world... please leave michael jackson and his children alone. please, for God sake. respect him, the children, his family and above all yourselves. please, please, please. stop all those nonsenses. thank you in Allah's name. may Allah bless you haters.

of my blog purpose...

the main purpose of this blog when it first started was just as an online personal diary, nothing more than that. basically i wrote about whatever i feel like to write i.e. my experiences in life, my two lovely kids, my reviews on f&b places that we went, movies and many more... in other words, its a place for me to rant and released my stress and relaxed through writing. but one thing that i always bear in mind is NOT to touch on politics! full stop.

along the way i came across nuffnang at my first bloggers meet in penang. i guess that's how i started to share and try make money while blogging. then i have been invited to join socialspark; and the rest was history. believe it or not, i got more opportunities and of course incomes with socialspark than nuffnang. i know the answers to that, but i leave it for you to figure it out yourself hehee... nonetheless i really enjoyed my time at blogger events organized by nuffnang.

you can learn more about blogging here or just type anything you wanna know in the 'search' box on top left hand corner of this blog. better still email me like some of you people did. we became online friends though.

like Dragon Blogger, we met in socialspark (isn't it kewl people, by blogging, i met bloggers from all over the world)! here's what he gotta say about this topic:

One of the biggest questions I get asked by new comers to SocialSpark is how do I start making money with blogging. This is a fair question and is something I am always trying to learn the answer to myself. Before you should think about monetizing your blog however, you need to define your blog purpose.

Your purpose is your entire reason for your blogs existence, your purpose needs to be developed with your potential readers and audience in mind. Your purpose helps keep you focused on what your blog is about and keeps you doing it. read more here.

to add up to this, i am so glad that i went to the 'blogging and law' conference some time ago. there and then i am very much aware of the do's and dont's about blogging and such. thus you won't see other people's pics in my blog unless otherwise stated. important: gives credit where credit is due!

and as you could see now people, my blog is not really about making money. i still write anything and whatever came across me. the blog ads opportunities are just bonus!

so what about you people. care to share some of your blog purposes with me?

ants do rest and sleep people!

it was just the other day when we giggled to megat's reaction to 'awoken ants' as per him hehee...

the story: he was about to place the dinner plate near the wash basin, that he saw some 'sleeping ants'. nonetheless he still placed the plate there. then the ants went doinkkk!!! [while megat shaken his head and some of his body parts] as though they awoke when megat disturbed them rotfl... that was cute! owh, how i wished that i captured that moment in a video.

"didi (弟弟), where got ants sleeping!" puteri told her didi.

well, since i was not sure myself, i quickly got some help from ms google after i finished my meal. and to answer megat, yes, apparently ants also rest and sleep since they worked very hard =)

good morning...

i would like to welcome you to this humble blog by greeting you in your own language, but i don’t know what time of day it is for you and i don’t know which language you normally speak. so i’m going to assume it’s morning and, if it isn’t, then never mind. as we say in english: “it’s the thought that counts”.

one cautionary note: i understand that there are often several ways to say "good morning" in any particular language. another difference is that, in many countries and cultures, the greeting used is not so much strictly "good morning" as a kind of general salutation often referring to god. language is not a science and, on this page, i am trying to give the version of "good morning" that is specific to early in the day.

i hope that you will find the greeting “good morning” in your own language as what i know so far, as per follow. if not, please e-mail me; advise me of how to say “good morning” in your language and i’ll add it to this blog post—

  1. Chinese:
    • Cantonese - Zao san
    • Mandarin - Zao an

  2. English: Good morning

  3. French: Bonjour

  4. German: Guten Morgen

  5. Indian:
    • Hindi/Hindu - Namaste
    • Tamil: Vannakkam

  6. Indonesian: Selamat pagi

  7. Japanese: Ohayo gozaimasu

  8. Malaysian: Selamat pagi

  9. Spanish: Buenos dias

  10. Swedish: God morgon

of our first day of ramadhan...

we just had a very simple meals for our break fast last night—

P8222125

a jug of chill "siren" (red syrup and original sunquick orange mix). i would like to advise you to use red rose horse label for the red rose syrup, the best!

P8222126

some plates of home-cooked dishes by mama [clockwise from top left]: meat curry gravy, grilled fish, rendang dinding (she used grandma's recipe of course, hmm... yummy!), fried sausage with tomato sauce as per megat's request and...

P8222127

lastly mama fried some green veges almost to break fast time, cuz she wanted it fresh and hot from the 'wok'! i tell you what... if you know me, then you would know it that i like this pic. its the movements of my mama's hand that showed the true story. aren't people always said: a picture speaks a thousand words...

although that's just what we had, what's the most import things were i have been surrounded by my loved ones. besides that we had a healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals!

moreover believe it or not, we didn't even bother to go to the pasar ramadhan at the tepi sungei! while for desserts, we have quite a number of mini magnum, sorello and more ice-creams in the freezer. plus bars of chocolates too! isn't that sounds awesome?... i guess we learned to be more wised on our break fast meals from the past years experiences. we hate to see left-over food to be put to waste.

so what about you people... care to share some stories with me?

of a blog visitor from budapest

as i was checking my blog's statistics, i found out that i had a visitor from budapest in hungary who visited my blog via ok.hu

ok.hu directory

my ubudiah mosque's pic attracted him/her to browse my blog weee...

so i guess this is important- where i was supposed to leave watermarks on my pics. you know... just in case someone stole your online pic kan kan... anyhow ya although it will take some time to do the process of leaving the watermark, definitely its for our own benefits!

alright people, i'm gonna see of what we gonna have for our second day of sahur now... ta!

*coming up: a blog post about our simple buka puasa meal for last night ;)

ramadhan is here...

P7102018

may the festival of lights be the harbinger
of joy and prosperity

as the holy occasion of ramadhan is here
and the atmosphere is filled with the spirit
of mirth and love

here is hoping this festival of beauty brings your way
bright sparkles of contentment
that stay with you through the days ahead

our best wishes for you on ramadhan...

here's a reminder to all of you people no matter muslims or not, who is going to pasar ramadhan later in the evening:

kuE' note:
pic of megat and i has been taken by my darling puteri on 10 july 2009. we were attending a kenduri organized by mom and her siblings at the ubudiah mosque. sorry people, puteri is so damn shy to take pics these days, what when redmummy said: and KuE ada Puteri yang hot, betullllllllllllll! =)
