of our first day of ramadhan...

we just had a very simple meals for our break fast last night—

a jug of chill "siren" (red syrup and original sunquick orange mix). i would like to advise you to use red rose horse label for the red rose syrup, the best!

some plates of home-cooked dishes by mama [clockwise from top left]: meat curry gravy, grilled fish, rendang dinding (she used grandma's recipe of course, hmm... yummy!), fried sausage with tomato sauce as per megat's request and...

lastly mama fried some green veges almost to break fast time, cuz she wanted it fresh and hot from the 'wok'! i tell you what... if you know me, then you would know it that i like this pic. its the movements of my mama's hand that showed the true story. aren't people always said: a picture speaks a thousand words...

although that's just what we had, what's the most import things were i have been surrounded by my loved ones. besides that we had a healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals!

moreover believe it or not, we didn't even bother to go to the pasar ramadhan at the tepi sungei! while for desserts, we have quite a number of mini magnum, sorello and more ice-creams in the freezer. plus bars of chocolates too! isn't that sounds awesome?... i guess we learned to be more wised on our break fast meals from the past years experiences. we hate to see left-over food to be put to waste.

i posted some blog post' about hornbills that were around our place sometime 3 to 4 years ago here. they are still around you know...

of staying in a place called home...

i am sure most of you people knows shaolin tiger! i first met him at the nuffnang friso family day out. he is a very nice guy. i hope that i will have the chance to meet him again *winks* shaolin in fact has known my sister way much earlier cuz they are both in to none other than photography.

this was one of the pic i snapped at nuffnang friso family day out, with shaolin in front of me, trying to take a good shot of the limbo rock game too ;)

to tell you the truth, i don't normally read his blog, only onccceeeeeeeeee in a blue moon i tell you. thus i stumbled in to his february 16th post just now about his 5th years in malaysia. so for someone from welsh, who likes our country more than his actual home, it was such an awesome post indeed. the post should be forwarded to all those malaysians who kept on thinking of migrating elsewhere and think that malaysia sucks so much XD

look at this people!

our breakfast this morning was interrupted when the five hornbills came to our house to look for food. that was because we usually eat our meals at the patio. as soon as i came back after sending kids to school, i saw one of them was sitting on the roof near my room. not long after that, came another and another flying around the house. lastly, all of them were eating bugs near our patio. before that my cousin' maid trying to sweep away all the bugs (kelkatu) that came into the patio last night. since we saw that the hornbills were eating that particular bugs outside, so we asked susi to stop sweeping. my grandma asked me to open the patio door with hopes that the birds would come in. they did, four of them!

as usual, i loaded all the pics to my flickr account. my mom called my sister to let her know about this. she was so excited, immediately told most of her 'environment' friends. within minutes, my flickr page of the birds pics been viewed by many. within seconds too, my sister have added more tags about the birds to my page-
bucerotidae, coraciiformes, anthracoceros, anthracoceros albirostris and oriental pied-hornbill.

see, i told ya... only environment people know these. how on earth i know those scientific words lol :P

" they have started to visit our place for many months now but much more frequent the last couple of months, and this morning has been the most exciting visit!

there are 2 adults and 3 juveniles in the group. these are 2 of the juveniles (ref. to the 4th pics i guess) i suppose.

last night the patio or breakfast area were 'infested' by flying termites (or what are they called?). this photo was taken against the mosquito netting but you can see the couple of photos when they came inside the house to feed on the insects (my grandmother (alo... me lor, not grandma) opened the door).

so in other words, my family had to wait to have their breakfast after these guys had theirs

its not that easy, dear...

this morning my sister sms me asking about the hornbills. she asked me so many questions. how do i know about that creatures lor. she requested me to snap better and bigger resolutions pics next time. wa lau ley... its not that easy, dear... we won't know when they would be coming. the most important thing is- we cannot make any noise! well it seems that her (my sis) friends from wwf are interested to know further about the hornbills that frequently fly-around our home. what i could say is i can't promise, but i'll try ;)

believe it or not

there are five (5) (yes-5!!!) hornbills at our home. three of them were 'bertenggek' on the railing of our verandah this morning. here's a pic of one of them-
