project 365: 8th week—

project 365 — 8th week

day 50 — i went to puteri’s school to meet the teachers and discussed about her achievements. i was waiting for my turn, then as usual i took out my oly to snap a pic for my project 365! :) i find that some people do not even bother to attend this day. for me, no matter our kids are good or not in their studies, we as the parents should make sure that we do our responsibilities. show them that we care!

day 51 — the next day was megat’s turn! here we were at yut loy, having some morning break while waiting for the time to fetch puteri in school hehee…

day 52 — i got megat to snap this pic for me. i wanted to show-off my first handmade backpack! that’s mine of course! i sew it according to my likes as per megat. he is 100% correct. that’s one best thing about handmade item; where you can do as whatever you wished, and it will be one-of-a-kind! i used black and white butterfly cotton from ikea. i simply lurve this fabric. i did patchwork for the front part, and added two butterfly appliquè that i cut from the same fabric. so if you like this, then you should visit my kualè girl designs page on facebook to view more of my collections :)

day 53 — help save lives with just one signature! i found this form in the sunday star paper. and because i care about the environment and nature, i quickly filled in the form and seal it to be posted the next time i went out to town—no stamps needed anyway, as it’s a paid postage. its to show my support for laws that will ban the sale and consumption of all turtle eggs throughout the country. go here to do this online.

day 54 — don’t wait! remember the tv and radio ads, that reminding publics to see the doctor whenever they don’t feel good. that’s what we did that day. megat was not feeling well, so off we went to the clinic as soon as he finished his mandarin tuition class. thank god its only minor thingy… *phew*

day 55 — another side of masjid (mosque) ubudiah. pic was a bit blur, not because it has been taken by puteri. i forgot to bring my oly, so i had to use my n76 instead… blerk! we were waiting in the car, for mama who was meeting the mosque’ imam.

day 56 — another pic while waiting. this one was at the junction going in to the d.o.’s bungalow. form 3 students had to attend klinik pmr this week, thus puteri also has to go back around 5+ pm huhuu…

Q&A: got twitter secret?

i have been asked of how on earth i got quite a number of followers on twitter, and whether i knew all of them.

eventually i am so glad to say that i of course knew almost all of my followers, vise versa. to tell you the truth, i didn't know much tweeples (twitters) when i first got started. so i thought that maybe i should be creative on my tweets (see examples below).

twitter updates

from then on, twitters who found my tweets interesting, followed me. i make it a point to know and follow them back. more interesting enough is that we became friends! see... how kewl is that.

and like i mentioned earlier in my tweets, i have just joined sponsored tweets by an invitation. i guess must be someone from the company 'saw' me! if everything goes well, i will get paid on my sponsored tweets... amin. sponsoredtweets.com is a revolutionary new twitter advertising platform from izea, the world leaders in sponsored conversations. i know that this ain't sounds good for those busy people. but tell me... if we don't think out of the box, we won't go anywhere right. in other words, work hard for your success!!!

follow me on twitter here.

PPP is now on v4.0!!!

PayPerPost (PPP) is one of the more reliable paid blogging site for us bloggers. so far, i have been paid for the posts i have made for the past months. now, they have launched a new version of their system. PayPerPost v4.0 has gone live. it is quite different from their existing version 3.

in the new PayPerPost v4.0, there is no more waiting for blog approval and no advertiser-set price. i think this is good news for us bloggers. it means that you are the one to set the price as to how much you want to be paid per word you write and how much each link will cost the advertisers. you also can control which posts to accept for your blog. you just need to edit the blog details. another feature is that you can set the minimum advertiser’s rating. this is how many percent the advertiser has actually paid for the posts they reviewed.

i think the only downside is that you now need to have at least USD50 before you can cash out your earnings. you also cannot see other opportunities which are being offered. you can only wait until there is an open opportunity for you.

if this sounds interesting enough and you want to try it out, head to PayPerPost v4.0 now.

wahhh... looks like i talk more about money these days than any other thing. arghhh... don't care lor... REVTWT is a kind of twitter’s advertising (not affiliated). you will have better opportunity to earn more from twitter if you have a large number of followers.

it is a new way of making money online by posting ad-tweets to your twitter account. when someone clicks on the ads, you will earn a few cents based on the ads posting price. they always have a huge selection of ads to choose from and most pay anywhere between $0.01 to $0.15 each for the CPC ads, or $0.15 to $0.50 each for the CPT ads.

they also have e-mail and blog ads as well a URL shortening service where you get paid when someone clicks on the ad.

project 365: 7th week—

project 365 — 7th week

day 43 — a pro in the making? puteri was so happy when her gong gong gave her his old DSLR camera. yes, an old one— the one that use film roll; in fact i can’t wait to see the results of the photographs that she snapped hehee… ;)

day 44 — this pic has been taken at approximately 7.18 am, just after i send-off puteri to school. the white building was the school’s hall. so if you know this road going down the resident‘s hill towards the jam besor (clock tower), i bet you could imagine of how bad the traffic was when we were late in the morning… not bad huh?!! what to do… so i entertained myself by listening to “you are not alone” by MJ via hitz.fm . he passed away that morning at about 5.21 am local time. i dunno about other stations, but hitz.fm spinned his songs for the whole solid day! *glurp* well people from young to old know him very well. may mikhail rest in peace… amin.

day 45 — kidz went to school on last saturday, to replace the upcoming raya holidays. the first day was few months ago. on the same day as well, an auntie married to my uncle here in kualè. yes, both of the newly wed are related to me J but anyhow ayah jap asked us to join their side instead. nevertheless since their parents passed away few years ago, they really need our help; especially bah who eventually knows about most of the adat resam of malay weddings very well. ayah jap is the bride’s big bro. he’s the one in pic who was trying to learn of how to tie a sampin, from my dad hehee… my father was the one with sampin koleq, of course weee…

day 46 — masjid (mosque) ubudiah at night.

day 47 — food recycle(?). pic showed me preparing some chicken sandwiches for the kids recess’ meals. the chicken was actually of some left over’s from the day before’ KFC take-out orders. see… we don’t just recycle plastics, papers and such; we do recycle food as well :) i always remind my kids of the importance of not wasting any good quality items. you must think of those who are not as lucky as us… amin.

day 48 — transformers fever is back!!! that bumblebee toy was for megat. but of course he paid me back RM15.90 *glurp* the thing is i am not buying him anymore toys at this age. so that means he has to find his own good way if he wish to get any. do i have to elaborate more on this? nah… i tell you what… i know that we still have my lil’ bro’s big box of transformers toys that my dad bought him about more than 20 years ago. i am very sure that its somewhere in the store. i WILL show it to the world as soon as i have the time to get it out from there! we still remember that the last time my lil’ bro played the toys with his koleq friends. they were here during one weekends in form one! hehee…

day 49 — any of you people are up for checkers and/(or) chess? gotcha!… this ain’t the normal checkers or chess board okay. its black and white fabric patchworks that i am in the mid of sewing right now. make sure you people get the updates on kualè girl page soon! :)

project 365: 6th week—

project 365 — 6th week

day 36 — the last day of the week before, i snapped a hinting picture of what i sew for redmummy; while this is how i shipped my packages ie via pos malaysia’ pos ekspres! the best part of it is the recipients can keep track of the packages shipped online with the code number provided. i would like to take this opportunity to thank ayu for helping me to arrange for giving out the personalized laptop sleeve to redmummy!!! terima kasih daun keladi, lain kali kita plan lagik ek? lol... the best thing is she lurves the gift sooooo much! *big grin*

day 37 — actually on that morning, i attended a farewell function for my former teacher cik hajjah ramlah who has been officially retired on 22 june 2009. it was a very nice event indeed, unfortunately yours truly forgot to bring her camera!!! eventually i never took it out from my handbag unless i wanna snap or load any pictures. but i did the night before to charge the camera’s battery— importantly to prepare for cik ramlah’s retirement and also a function that i was supposed to attend as well over the weekend. so at last i end up with this picture of a chinese temple near our house. i had a line dance practice for a function on last sunday, at a hall next to it.

day 38 — it was a wedding reception night of my uncle at royal ipoh club. that’s me with my cousin nenen. he can speak mandarin very well occay… just like megat, yes… he went to study in a chinese school in ipoh. besides that he was also a basketball player for the state’ team if i’m not mistaken.

day 39 — it was last sunday night, when i performed for the first time with part of my line dance group. it was for the MCA kualè mother & father’s day celebrations. i was kinda nervous though when I danced the first song, to a zapin tune… walaweiii… what more when i heard a guy shouted: “come one, kuE!!!” wargghhh… i focused to the audience and i saw shafizan, an old cliffordian i knew since my school days. he must be one of the UMNO guys that he has been invited to the function, blerk! anyhow sorry ler dude, i wore my dad’s sampin koleq on that night lol… credit goes to megat for helping me to take some pics and videos :)

day 40 — it was a hazy morning in kualè, and i bet it was the same to other places around the area. luckily i happened to have my N76 with me that I snapped this pic from the river bank, before i started my line dance session— you can’t even see sayong! take note that normally i didn’t bring my mobile phone when i go for my morning exercises; but i did that morning because i wanna show-off my new N76 case to my friend ms tung hehee…

day 41 — busy at work: people take note that kualè is clean thanks to those MPKK guys for making sure that everything are in order and in good condition at all time.

day 42 — work in progress: nothing to capture? must be like it huh… that’s me anyway, trying to finish sewing the “in-the-mood” handbags that i am selling. as you could see, not all parts of the handbags were machine-stitched; thus the prices are as such.

project 365: 5th week—

project 365 — 5th week

day 29 — i can make those!!!… we were walking around in 1U when we dropped-by this accessories shop. can you tell of how much the shop sell them? its about RM15 okay *glurp* whilst the hair accessories were just the normal bobby pins, then we shall embellished them with cloth ribbons or buttons. how’s that?

day 30 — we wanted to go to klcc; and with thoughts that we sure gonna have the troubles to get parking there (especially during the school holidays), we just parked the car at kelana jaya lrt station. we boarded roundtrip transfer straight to KLCC then, simple as that… on that very same day as well, kuala lumpur has been badly covered by haze— kl tower and klcc were hardly visible from a far :(

day 31 — i had a meet up appointment with some friends at subang parade. so from cousin sarah’s place in putrajaya, i turned in to the USJ interchange instead— there were a lot of memories and nostalgia mannn… pic showed the main road that i always used to go to work :( but one thing, the roads there are now like hotwheels toys ler…

day 32 — “no plastic for me!” it was the last day of school holidays. i had to go to ikea before go back to get something. there and then i understood that ikea (malaysia) have started to encourage their customers to bring their own shopping bags to save the environment with effective 5 june 2009. they will charge RM0.20 for each plastic bags used: i like… because i have been practicing this for quite some time. so have you done your part?

day 33 — boringgggg!!!… looking at this pic, it clearly showed that i had totally forgot to take any pic of the day earlier… thus snap! then i straight away slept lol…

day 34 — chong wah stationery shop. i am sure people from kualè knows this shop. megat just went in to the car, then he asked me to drop-by at the shop for him to get some coloured papers… walawei… that really reminds me of those times when i always frequent the same shop after school etc whenever i need stationeries urgently. and now... (ya... you bet!) my kids were doing the same hehee...

day 35 — something for redmummy(?) by kualè girl(?). sorry beb… i won’t post any pic or blog anything till she gets it; but all i could say is a very good thank you to din of deefar creative enterprise for helping me to embellished the red colour fabric with a beautiful embroidered name on it weee…

project 365: 4th week—

project 365 — 4th week

day 22 — this was the first pic for this project, taken out of kualè. we were walking out of kwong fatt, in ipoh, a famous fabrics shop among ipoh people and the surrounded areas; when we saw an old shop in front of it. it looked interesting that we decided to go and drop-by there. it sells ready-made clothes a-la sunday market. whats more interesting when we saw an antique cash register machine. according to the shop lady, they owned the machine for about 50 years or more.

day 23 — all of us went to cousin cicik’s akad nikah (solemnisation), held after maghrib prayers. i make sure that we attended it especially megat as cicik helped me to take care of him when he was a baby. she’s very good at it, even her mom was unsure of where and how she inherit those expertise. anyhow she is now working at a local spa centre here in kualè.

day 24 — the next afternoon was cicik’s kenduri— check-out the antique plates. ning baizura was so proud that she used them during her wedding, remember? blerk!… my parent’s wedding used them also. bah told me that it only cost at RM0.20 each those days *glurp* but the best thing at cicik's wedding was, we were served with spread of food and wedding favour from medan... marvelous! for those who wonders, she is ijoe's youngest sista!

day 25 — which one you wanna go? there were so many weddings last weekend; correct me if i am wrong. you can see quite a number of wedding signs placed at junctions everywhere.

day 26 — i just had chicken chop for lunch at yut loy with puteri and bah. so this pic has been snapped while i was waiting for my food. the baby pic you saw in the pic is ah meng’s grand daughter, a latest generation of yut loy hehee…

day 27 — we arrived kl at around 3 pm to spend the rest of the school holidays that will be ended this sunday. my lil’ sis treated us for a dinner at TGIF in sunway pyramid. that’s my favourite strawberry milkshake. i only like the one from TGIF as it’s the best of all!… the thickness, the taste, in fact everything are perfecto! so what’s your favourite from TGIF.

day 28 — it was a ‘jalan-jalan’ day at KLCC. well actually cousin abang ayi had a whole day conference there. he had to bring his son daniel and asked megat to tag along. i brought them around the mall while waiting for the time they were supposed to go to petrosains. and what a lucky day for us when we met my uncle ayah jed and his grandson anaqi in kinokuniya. so we had our lunch at 1901 together, courtesy of ayah jed weee... thank you so much for the lunch treat ayah jed! puteri was there too but she hang-out with her friends :~)

project 365: 3rd week—

project 365 — 3rd week

day 15 — the day was almost over, luckily i remembered that i haven’t snap any pics of the day yet :( so i turned right instead after i fetched megat from his taekwondo class. i knew it that for sure kids going to ask of where we were going. so this pic was taken in front of big school. i tried using ’night mode’ on my digicam, then a car passed by when i clicked the camera’s shutter but anyhow i love this pic.

day 16 — mama wanted to get something for megat at a local bakery, when i saw one of the female workers was cutting some white breads using the bread cutter machine.

day 17 — puteri and i just came out from kat kopitiam that night. we were doing some projects for megat’s birthday. we spotted this new sign near the new MPKK building that has been launched by the sultan on the same night i attended a line dance party (check-out day 10 of this project 365) — “dataran putra“… gosh! what on earth kualé got to do with this name? lol…

day 18 — as usual we met the orchid seller on our sunday market trip. he introduced us to this flower-in-a-flower type of flower called pansy fanny(?). i guess that was my first time seeing it. its beautiful and got a very nice smell!

day 19 — i took quite a number of pics on this day because it was megat’s 10th birthday! so i guess i ought to choose one of the best pics i like, and i chose this one as like i mentioned many times before, i lurveeeee seeing candid pics!

day 20 — i have just came back from fetching megat in school, when mama told us that a bird died after it bumped into the glass sliding door at the living room or better known as the green room. pity the bird… he must not known that it was glass, that he wanted to fly through it. well to tell you the truth eventually this happened to humans too actually on quite a number of occasions *glurp*

day 21 — this pic has been taken by puteri towards the end of the day. so as you could see, that means i almost forgot to take a pic of the day for this project. so as the results, i thought this pic would make do to comply with my busy-ness these days hehee… get more info about this here! pic showed me, who was sewing some fabric flowers on a fabric. this technique is called appliquè.

project 365: 2nd week—

project 365 — 2nd week

day 8 — you can basically get online from anytime and anywhere these days. here we were at a local KFC while waiting for megat at one of his taekwondo classes held twice a week.

day 9 — megat looked happy on a friday morning, getting ready to go to school. his po-po would give them RM1 each on this days.

day 10 — like i mentioned earlier, i was in school for our OGA’s AGM during the day. so i chose this picture as the picture of the day (pic taken by the event‘s emcee) — i joined my line dance group for a “mother’s day dance party”. it was indeed my first time joining such event. i could say that it was well organized. we really enjoyed ourselves at the party. ms tung and i went back at around 11.30pm, but i heard that the party finished past midnight.

day 11 — here’s part of my line dance group (taken by megat). we joined an aerobic exercises organized by MPKK this morning, lead by fana’ aerobics. it was eventually screened live on tv1’s selamat pagi malaysia programmed around 7.40 am. i wonder whether any of you people saw me weee… :) FYI the whole SPM programmed has been telecast live in kuale— wonder whether its all because of the propaganda in the state recently, eee… malu nye… :(

day 12 — fruits from our very own homeland— papaya and quinine; both fell on the same day. other fruits that we have here are rambutans and avocados J

day 13 — budak koleq should know of where was this place. ya… its yut loy! i had lunch there with mama. kak roza, wan chor and auntie tut were still in ipoh so we ordered first as were already hungry like hell hehee… check-out the stairs people. i could say that its so unique as it has a wooden stairs gate up the stairs. can you see? you can’t find this features in modern homes.

day 14 — this was the view of my former secondary school from my car seat. wednesday supposed to be a co-curriculum day but since it’s the exam week, puteri went back early at 2pm instead because she do not have to attend the activities. i went straight to puteri’s school after send megat’s pack lunch.

project 365: 1st week—

project 365 — 1st week

day 1 — i thought to myself, what a good way for me to start this project 365 of mine with a picture of our home. this is part of a corner of our ‘green room’ which is quite synonym for our family's photography session especially during hari raya.

day 2 — i have just came back from town when i snapped this pic. i was on the look out for orange colour thread and satin ribbon. here’s what happened: we had an invitation from a young uncle for his new born son’s “kenduri marhaban” on 16th may 2009. mama asked of what we going to bring for baby ibby. since i had some 100% cotton cartoon print with matching plain orange fabrics, that i simply bought at the sunday market the week before (without knowing of what was it for); i had the idea to sew a simple tote bag filled with baby toiletries. i am so glad that they like our handmade gift.

day 3 — picture taken by megat, shown me with auntie zarina and baby ibby; at the kenduri marhaban held at a grand auntie‘s place in bukit chandan. normally functions like this are the chance for us relatives and friends to meet up out of our normal daily routine. i like...

day 4 — i was waiting for puteri to buy bread at a mini market when i saw this new banner hanged by a local café, the gate café at the back view of their café in jalan kangsar. they have been accused of serving non-halal food. i am sure they took drastic action this way to prove to kualé people that they actually served halal food. i myself was surprised at first when i heard about this as i knew that they employed malay cooks i.e. malay makcik and some malay guys.

day 5 — i as one of the committee members of my former secondary school’s PTA has been invited for the school’s teacher’s day celebration. this scene really reminds me of my school days huhu... i used to stand/sit there for five years of my secondary school’s life. we had our daily morning assembly there way from mama’s time, and now… its puteri‘s turn. can you spot her? it was so nostalgic i tell you. we could also see the wonderful panoramic view of the sungai perak from there.

day 6 — this view was from the back of aked mara building here in kuala kangsar. along this road as well, was the back part of the shop houses located along jalan kangsar in town. far end is megat’s school. i have just brought megat to see my uncle at his clinic when i snapped this pic. megat was coughing and has minor fever. he was so happy when my uncle gave him two days medical leaves :)

day 7 — i had just arrived from my former high school when i remembered that i haven’t take any pics of the day yet. so as you could see, that’s my stuff that i normally brought for any school’s PTA’ committee meeting and such: starbucks coffee 2009' diary and its meeting minutes papers. guess what people, i will be going to my school again this saturday for our OGA's AGM 2009!

it was a great week for this project even though its only the first week. can't wait to see the full results :)

project 365

14.05.2009 — my project 365 begins!

project 365

what?

what is a project 365? in this case it involves me taking (at least) a picture a day for the next year and posting it to my blog. anyhow i thought of updating them in a collage form with show-and-tell style, once a week insya Allah. find out more details on the project here.

why?

i am doing this for a couple reasons. it seems like an interesting way to chronicle a year. what when i decided to start doing it today, a day after my 37th birthday :) so that means by the time i celebrate my next birthday, i will be recording not just the extraordinary events, but day to day things that might slip through the cracks, the haircuts, the scrapes, the little victories... also, i hope to get better at taking pictures. if you do something every day for a year it stands to reason that you will get better at it.

how?

i will be taking pictures with my oly. i will then upload the results to flickr and will post the picture selected to represent that day here mixed in with the rest of my posts. if you want to see them all look for the project 365 label in the category listing.

i really hope you will enjoy the results. i am sure that there will be days that the pictures are painfully ordinary, but keep an eye out for the diamonds in the rough.

if you are taking part in project 365 i’d love to hear about it — and see how you are doing. leave a comment here or on any of my posts. i will check out your project for sure.
