of my blog purpose...

the main purpose of this blog when it first started was just as an online personal diary, nothing more than that. basically i wrote about whatever i feel like to write i.e. my experiences in life, my two lovely kids, my reviews on f&b places that we went, movies and many more... in other words, its a place for me to rant and released my stress and relaxed through writing. but one thing that i always bear in mind is NOT to touch on politics! full stop.

along the way i came across nuffnang at my first bloggers meet in penang. i guess that's how i started to share and try make money while blogging. then i have been invited to join socialspark; and the rest was history. believe it or not, i got more opportunities and of course incomes with socialspark than nuffnang. i know the answers to that, but i leave it for you to figure it out yourself hehee... nonetheless i really enjoyed my time at blogger events organized by nuffnang.

you can learn more about blogging here or just type anything you wanna know in the 'search' box on top left hand corner of this blog. better still email me like some of you people did. we became online friends though.

like Dragon Blogger, we met in socialspark (isn't it kewl people, by blogging, i met bloggers from all over the world)! here's what he gotta say about this topic:

One of the biggest questions I get asked by new comers to SocialSpark is how do I start making money with blogging. This is a fair question and is something I am always trying to learn the answer to myself. Before you should think about monetizing your blog however, you need to define your blog purpose.

Your purpose is your entire reason for your blogs existence, your purpose needs to be developed with your potential readers and audience in mind. Your purpose helps keep you focused on what your blog is about and keeps you doing it. read more here.

to add up to this, i am so glad that i went to the 'blogging and law' conference some time ago. there and then i am very much aware of the do's and dont's about blogging and such. thus you won't see other people's pics in my blog unless otherwise stated. important: gives credit where credit is due!

and as you could see now people, my blog is not really about making money. i still write anything and whatever came across me. the blog ads opportunities are just bonus!

so what about you people. care to share some of your blog purposes with me?

ants do rest and sleep people!

it was just the other day when we giggled to megat's reaction to 'awoken ants' as per him hehee...

the story: he was about to place the dinner plate near the wash basin, that he saw some 'sleeping ants'. nonetheless he still placed the plate there. then the ants went doinkkk!!! [while megat shaken his head and some of his body parts] as though they awoke when megat disturbed them rotfl... that was cute! owh, how i wished that i captured that moment in a video.

"didi (弟弟), where got ants sleeping!" puteri told her didi.

well, since i was not sure myself, i quickly got some help from ms google after i finished my meal. and to answer megat, yes, apparently ants also rest and sleep since they worked very hard =)

good morning...

i would like to welcome you to this humble blog by greeting you in your own language, but i don’t know what time of day it is for you and i don’t know which language you normally speak. so i’m going to assume it’s morning and, if it isn’t, then never mind. as we say in english: “it’s the thought that counts”.

one cautionary note: i understand that there are often several ways to say "good morning" in any particular language. another difference is that, in many countries and cultures, the greeting used is not so much strictly "good morning" as a kind of general salutation often referring to god. language is not a science and, on this page, i am trying to give the version of "good morning" that is specific to early in the day.

i hope that you will find the greeting “good morning” in your own language as what i know so far, as per follow. if not, please e-mail me; advise me of how to say “good morning” in your language and i’ll add it to this blog post—

  1. Chinese:
    • Cantonese - Zao san
    • Mandarin - Zao an

  2. English: Good morning

  3. French: Bonjour

  4. German: Guten Morgen

  5. Indian:
    • Hindi/Hindu - Namaste
    • Tamil: Vannakkam

  6. Indonesian: Selamat pagi

  7. Japanese: Ohayo gozaimasu

  8. Malaysian: Selamat pagi

  9. Spanish: Buenos dias

  10. Swedish: God morgon

of our first day of ramadhan...

we just had a very simple meals for our break fast last night—

P8222125

a jug of chill "siren" (red syrup and original sunquick orange mix). i would like to advise you to use red rose horse label for the red rose syrup, the best!

P8222126

some plates of home-cooked dishes by mama [clockwise from top left]: meat curry gravy, grilled fish, rendang dinding (she used grandma's recipe of course, hmm... yummy!), fried sausage with tomato sauce as per megat's request and...

P8222127

lastly mama fried some green veges almost to break fast time, cuz she wanted it fresh and hot from the 'wok'! i tell you what... if you know me, then you would know it that i like this pic. its the movements of my mama's hand that showed the true story. aren't people always said: a picture speaks a thousand words...

although that's just what we had, what's the most import things were i have been surrounded by my loved ones. besides that we had a healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals!

moreover believe it or not, we didn't even bother to go to the pasar ramadhan at the tepi sungei! while for desserts, we have quite a number of mini magnum, sorello and more ice-creams in the freezer. plus bars of chocolates too! isn't that sounds awesome?... i guess we learned to be more wised on our break fast meals from the past years experiences. we hate to see left-over food to be put to waste.

so what about you people... care to share some stories with me?

of a blog visitor from budapest

as i was checking my blog's statistics, i found out that i had a visitor from budapest in hungary who visited my blog via ok.hu

ok.hu directory

my ubudiah mosque's pic attracted him/her to browse my blog weee...

so i guess this is important- where i was supposed to leave watermarks on my pics. you know... just in case someone stole your online pic kan kan... anyhow ya although it will take some time to do the process of leaving the watermark, definitely its for our own benefits!

alright people, i'm gonna see of what we gonna have for our second day of sahur now... ta!

*coming up: a blog post about our simple buka puasa meal for last night ;)

cloth menstrual pads and pantiliners

THE FOLLOWING BLOG POST/DISCUSSION ARE STRICTLY FOR OPEN-MINDED PEOPLE ONLY. THOSE WHO FELT OFFENDED AFTER READING THIS MEANS THAT YOU ARE NOT OPEN-MINDED ENOUGH.

i stumbled in to this forum recently about using cloth menstrual pads. i understand that many moms who use cloth diapers are also introduced to cloth menstrual pads. i also pointed this to my beloved puteri. often their reaction is the same as mine was initially. eew! who wants to wash cloth pads? then i did the research.

i also posted about this in my fb status. i was right in the first place that most people especially locals are still not that open-minded enough to discuss about this topic. maybe some must have been thought of why on earth i wanna discuss about it in public? duh!... 8)

ok so back to my research: cloth pads are simple to use, inexpensive, they come in dozens of cute styles, and they are more comfortable than paper and plastic pads. like many people, i'm becoming more and more conscious about the amount of waste i produce and contribute.

i have never used a product like this before. always used standard brand pads and tampons. since i am so conscious about out environment, i guess i will give it a go... what when i read these stories about some ladies who had experienced using cloth menstrual pads.

i am sure there are so many things to know first before hand like: what are the pros? how to wash? how many do you need? would you recommend something else? but the most important thing is we will definitely save a lot! you will need from 6-30 pads for your cycle depending on how heavy your flow and how often you choose to wash them. when you consider that the average woman spends over RM100 a year on disposable products you can see a significant savings very quickly. someone with a heavier flow or longer period will save even more. cloth menstrual pads will last an average of 5 years.

you can find a local SAHM with 7 kids who sells handmade cloth menstrual pads online here. for me, i will definitely try to sew them myself with the guides from some patterns and tutorial found online. i obviously will use this pattern because i like it better, and follow this tutorial.

i have already bought some PUL fabric with a lady in US, without any doubts about it.

owh... i can't wait to get started!

tweet... tweet...

width="400"

i didn't blog almost a week. but that doesn't mean that i have abandoned this blog~ at least i did some blog editing here and there once in a while, since i got quite a number of blog ads opportunities and such by socialspark especially. if you are on socialspark too, do add me!

besides that, as you could see i have twitter account(s). its a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them. users can send and receive tweets via the twitter website, short message service (sms) or external applications. the service is free to use over the internet, but using sms may incur phone service provider fees.

so basically if you didn't see any updates here in my blog, you can obviously view lotsa my twitter updates on the left sidebar of this blog instead. sometimes i still tweet even when i was on the go ie:
  1. this one: where i was at the clifford school's traffic light. a group of koleq boys were looking at me. i quickly tweet this via sms while the light still red lol...;

  2. this one: my maxis usb broadband was not in good order for almost 2 days!; and...

  3. this one: tweet this while i was having my hot mocha that i brewed myself ;)

see... i still blog right? but through twitter aka mini-blog hehee... even big stars like miley cyrus, justin timberlake, paula abdul, and martha stewart to name a few tweets; but of course hollywood superstars' and such are under 'verified accounts' by twitter.

i am so glad that i joined twitter. i had the chance to know so many good twitter friends not just from here but abroad too. so if you are on twitter as well, do add me ya...

Big Fans Have Big Ones

no, LoveSac.com is not a dirty website. LoveSac is not just another furniture retailer, or brand of bland designs. each core LoveSac product is a legitimate furniture invention, with patents to prove it.

the “sacs” that made LoveSac famous, put simply, are massively over sized bean bags filled with chopped durafoam instead of styrene beads, and comes with a two-lifetime guarantee never to go flat, or break. the durafoam is far more comfortable and resilient than beanbag beans—more like a gigantic pillow, than a stiff beanbag. LoveSac's latest invention, the sactionals, is a cross between upholstery and lego!

of typically swiss...

traveling for leisure or pleasure is a result of growing economic activities and prosperity, quality lifestyle, increasing awareness and above all wish to “be there and do that”. switzerland is the destination that has always been on the wish list of most travelers from around the world.

what makes switzerland a paradise on the earth?

landscape beauty, serene environment, mountains and a special nip in the air of switzerland is naturally attractive. and on top of this setting, if one has luxurious accommodation and modern amenities, it makes best setting for vacations and(/or) a romantic retreat. this is what is called typically swiss.

despite having their unique character, all the 225 swiss hotels have seven basic things in common, which make up the criteria for the grouping “Typically Swiss Hotels” in the first place. they feature an authentic architectural style for each city or region. the interior design exudes swiss atmosphere in an individual fashion. these hotels are not part of any standardized chain. they boast attractive locations, such as on a lake, in the mountains or in the old town. the service is personalized and driven by employees who know their way around. many establishments already bear the “level-1 quality label” by switzerland tourism.

lastly, another important point: at least 30% of the menu and 20% of the wine list are regional specialties and swiss wines, respectively. “in a very individual way the hotels are a mirror of their region”, says jĂĽrg schmid, director of switzerland tourism. he adds: “every single hotel is an engaging advertisement for switzerland as an extremely diverse and authentic tourist destination”.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra pre-screening...

finally... i can sit down and write this quietly *phew*

i was very lucky enough to receive an invite to the pre-screening of g.i. joe: the rise of cobra movie by samsung malaysia electronics. and since i had other errands to do in kl, so i accepted the invitation.

when i read the email invites, i knew it that maybe other samsung innov8 run participants would be there as well. cuz in the same email, it was addressed to my former teammates bryan and cherrie too!

the movie premiere was held on last thursday; at hall 1, gsc signature, the garden, kl. dinner was served at paradiso restaurant, at gsc itself. that's to celebrate the recent launch of samsung jet in malaysia. "smarter than smartphone, jet is destined to be the jewel in the crown for samsung mobile this year".

and now i figured we go on to my review. there might be some spoilers, in case you care *glurp*

i've been familiar with g.i. joe since i was a kid. i remember the cartoon, and of course, the toys owned by my lil' bro. however, i was never a die hard fan or anything like that. after seeing the trailers, and realizing it looked pretty much nothing like the g.i. joe i remember, i wasn't expecting much. so, with that said, here's the short version: it was great, but it wasn't the train wreck i expected. also, it was more enjoyable than transformers 2.

obviously the movie is flawed. it has it's share of "wtf?" moments, like when duke, baronnes and storm shadow get out of a plane, on a polar ice cap, wearing jeans and light jackets. apparently it's not quite as cold up there as i thought. must be global warming. or like when 4 nanomite warheads apparently need to weaponize, a process that involves zapping them with lasers for about 30 seconds. maybe i'm just not that knowledgeable, but i thought warheads were the weapon? no weaponizing necessary. who knows. the movie is filled will stuff like this. but, silly science aside, the real weak link in the movie is easily channing tatum. he just doesn't seem like a military badass. the way he delivers lines, he sounds more like a whiny teen sometimes. yes, i'm aware of how retarded it is to criticize the acting in a g.i. joe movie, but he's the center piece of the movie and he just can't carry it. part of the problem is his relationship with baroness in the movie. apparently 4 years ago they were engaged. then duke and her brother rex (who later turns out to be cobra commander) go off to war and rex "dies". duke and baroness just stop talking, or something. i really don't know. later then she was infected with nanomites by her believed to be dead brother which means he can control her like a robot. but eventually over the course of the movie, they make up and she miraculously overpowers the nanomite programming (wtf?) and helps duke and the joes. as dumb as that sounds, it's made worse by the fact that tatum and sienna miller simply have no chemistry whatsoever.

so, like i said, it's a fun but flawed movie. it's pretty much what you would expect an action movie to be. the biggest question, i guess, is this: "is it a g.i. joe movie?" honestly, i'd have to say "no". it's not quite the g.i. joe i remember, but it is a big, cheesy, fun and silly action movie that kept me entertained for about 2 hours.

so, just in case the talk backers decide my review looks leafy and green, as usual here i attached some pics that i have taken that night.

of why twitter was down—

Web attack 'aimed at one blogger'

A "massively co-ordinated" attack on websites including Google, Facebook and Twitter was directed at one individual, it has been confirmed.

Facebook told BBC News that the strike was aimed at a pro-Georgian blogger known as Cyxymu.

The attack caused a blackout of Twitter for around two hours, while Facebook said its service had been "degraded".

Google said it had defended its sites and was now working with the other companies to investigate the attack.

"[The] attack appears to be directed at an individual who has a presence on a number of sites, rather than the sites themselves," a Facebook spokesman told BBC News.

"Specifically, the person is an activist blogger and a botnet was directed to request his pages at such a rate that it impacted service for other users." read more here

-----

so that was why...

for those who dunno, we, on this part of the universe were surfing dreamscapes when this happened... thank god! hehee... ;) i have been told by my dear friend ken that twitter was down for radically two hours! i wonder what on earth did people do in that time? hiks!...
