my nuffnang story

alright, guess let me start by telling all you people of when i first heard the word 'nuffnang'. i am very proud to say i may be one of the first to know about it, thanks to the penang bloggers meet i joined on 25 february 2007. nuffnang's co-founder was one of the attendees. i did hear they talked in chinese and sometimes word 'nuffnang' while congratulating timothy. ok, fine. stupid me, i didn't even ask anyone what was that all about.

not too long after that nuffnang went live on the worldwide web. i was like- occay, this is what nuffnang all about. i can't remember the date but i know i was one of the first to register too.

its good to be a nuffnanger. there are so many activities lined-up for everyone no matter young or old. i had many experiences. not forgetting meeting top bloggers and learned many things from them. from then on i never turn back. let's have a glance seeing my journey with nuffnang (arranged accordingly by category)..........................................

― sometime in june '08, this was the first nuffnang event i attended. invited bloggers were allowed to bring a guest, so i brought along my sister with me. it was a good explosion for her as well. even she expanded her social network friends through this event. she's a photographer, so you see how she could take an advantage from it.

width="224"

― didn't i say earlier nuffnang is for everyone? its event with friso was a kind of family day. it involved families with young kids. this time i brought megat. for puteri, she was too shy to go with us even though rob asked me to bring her... hah! megat did have so much fun with the other kids- dancing, play-along, contest and many more. i was lucky enough to win RM100 mph voucher by being one of the winners of the 10 best written pre-event blog posts courtesy of friso!

― from the event title it clearly said music totally involved. we had to dress-up as a music icon. my hair was short that time so i thought halle berry(?) the best *glurp* for this one, yes, of course puteri was interested and followed me. she also wore something nice- hip-hop/funky, maybe miley? one thingy is she's a bit shy to snap pics. so here's diese aka saloma with moi...

width="224"

― since this event was something about financial thingy i asked my blogger friend marcus to join me. we first met at a sharing session by nuffnang of course. i could say we became good friends. anyway you will know what i meant as you read through this post till the end ツ

width="299"

― diese was my guest for this event. vaseline launched some new line of products. and guess what people after i first tried the many types of lotions given in the goodie bag, believe it or not i keep using vaseline until now. it makes my skin smooth and soft.

― i could say i am proud here again that i am one of the bloggers who attended nuffnang's first sharing session. it was held at the apartment downtown, with guest bloggers, redmummy and sultan muzaffar. they shared some blogging tips and whats not. apart from that we got to get to know each other by introducing ourselves.

width="299"

― i knew a cousin, yaya already moved to the city for good. so invited her to join me for this session. besides i also aware for sure her mom likes it that we were trying to keep the bonding of our family ties. we are definitely not first cousins though. and thanks to my invite yaya joined nuffnang thereafter for the sake of getting some extra incomes.

― mamma mia was one of the first premiere screening invites i received. its special as nuffnangers could bring not 2 as usual, but 3 guest. it was screened in gurney plaza. so both puteri and megat tagged along. i was worried at first though whether they gonna like that kind of movie- you know, abba music was during my childhood days not theirs. they love it! until they looked for their gong gong's old record and insisted him to play the musics... *phew*

― as soon as i got the invite for madagascar 2 via email i was so happy planning to surprise megat. i was really sure kids like megat loves the movie. as usual it was during not just weekdays but school days. once i fetch him from school i told him to get ready after lunch. he wore the clothes i prepared. see, clever me make him wear like a zoo-keeper... ahaks! he did of where we were going. i told him to just follow. the best thing was the screening was held in tgv in midvalley while we were living in kuala kangsar! to cut the story short he was really surprised when we reached there and thanked me so much for bringing me over. he smiled from ear-to-ear. i made him sleep on our way back home as he still has to go to school the day after.

― i didn't dare to bring any of my kids for this movie. i just thought it was suitable for adults. more over we were in kuala kangsar. since i knew i got some other errands to do in kl that time i accepted the invite for this movie. what a co-incident my ex-boyfriend happened to have something to do in the city too. so i got him to bring me there. we became good friends, i believe nothing harmful for us to go watching movies together. it was very long time ago since the last we did that anyway. in my mind, i only thought the movie got something to do with his job, so maybe he could learned a bit from it too... :)

width="299"

― this movie screening was special, mister potato co-sponsored it. we each have been given two canisters each of the mister potato chips. kewl... huh?! i brought along cousin nivin. i was very much aware she's the right person for me to bring.

width="299"

there were more other nuffnang events i attended. but i didn't blog about it- bloggers' blocked happened eventually especially towards the end of last year. i managed to post some sets of pictures anyway. i tweet a lot too sometimes- its a micro-mini blog right? on the other hand its one of the easiest way to update too, hehee... by the way here's some i could recalled~

and the recent one:

a night of stars with astro b.yond IPTV!

i know i know this blog has been lacked of updates. like i mentioned earlier, bloggers' blocked happened towards last year. plus i got job offer and moved to kl in january. i realized i was a bit lay-zeee then. that must be the big reasons why i never got the chance to have advertorial job. not even selected as a glitterati plus. not even have the chance to go to the first nuffnang asia-pacific blog awards. not just that i know very well i don't have many followers here. this also the results i didn't earn as much as some bloggers until hundreds and thousands of ringgits. but i did promise myself to brighten-up my blog again once things settle-down in kl. i will also try my very best to make it a point to join and be active again in blogger events organized by nuffnang. well to tell you the truth i dunno many local bloggers much myself. i am a lone ranger unless i get to ask someone to tag along. can't blame me for writing this blog in english though. i have been doing it since i first blog more than six years ago. it started as an online journal, nothing more than that. nuffnang is like a place for me to have fun for myself, and sometimes shared whatever i got with my loved ones... ♡

if we looked back, i lived in kuala kangsar, my hometown. if that time i can make the initiative to travel all the way to kl, also to penang to enjoy events by nuffnang, i should be able to do it more now. yes, other bloggers were truly surprised when they heard i came from kualé (kangsor). amazing? not for me, i am used to it already. besides i believe in the quotes: if there's a will, there's always a way...

now let me tell y'all my daughter, puteri is a registered member of nuffnang and churp churp too! she's in the mid of having her spm exams now. it was last month that i made my first trip to nuffnang office. i ordered 2 churpie plushies, one for moi and the other for puteri. i surprised her by sending it via pos ekspres along with a good luck card on thursday, few days before her exam started. according to mom, puteri was really surprised and smiled all day long... and when i came back to kualé last saturday (it was a surprise too), went straight-up to puteri's room to look for her, she was having her nap while hugging churpie. i should have taken a picture! i am so happy to see puteri loves her surprise exam gift~

come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers from around the asia-pacific region will flock to kuala lumpur, malaysia for the nuffnang asia-pacific blog awards 2011 in putrajaya marriott. the Awards aims to not only honour the region's best bloggers, but also to bring together blogger communities from across asia-pacific. the nuffnang asia-pacific blog awards is brought to you by volkswagen malaysia and putrajaya marriott.

nuffnang turns 2!

i first knew timothy the co-founder of nuffnang at a penang bloggers meet held at e-gate' starbucks way on 25 february 2007. it has been organized by a cool dude LogicYuan. it was in fact the first bloggers meet that i have attended. even lilian chan was there, then i was like— "sooooo that's 5Xmom!"

i certainly enjoyed myself chatting and camwhoring with other bloggers mainly from penang. well i guess we camwhored more than chatting actually hehee... anyhow that's what bloggers do during a meetup and such right? correct me if i am wrong... and at times i heard they teased tim about 'nuffnang'. i was a bit puzzled though as i dunno a single thing about it yet, okay fine...

nuffnanger profile

then it took me about a few days to find out about nuffnang. so i signed-up on 2 march 2007! to tell you the truth, i didn't generate much of all the years i joined nuffnang because i am just a humble blogger. when i first started this blog in january 2005, eventually it was totally meant as my online journal. i was rather curios of what would be happened if someone found my written journal. so that's basically of how this blog started. and of course a long the way i got to know more and more bloggers no matter locally or from abroad.

i could say that i am kinda tough. eventhough i didn't get much from nuffnang, but since i love what i am doing as a blogger, i try to participate myself in whatever opportunities i could that organized by nuffnang. i am more than happy! with events organized by them, i didn't enjoy them for myself only but sometimes i do shared them with my kids and like recently, i brought rizal to a premiere screening. go here to read more about nuffnang events that i have joined.

nuffnang sharing session @ the apartment downtown— i was so damn mad with this blogger who denied thoroughly when i told him/her(?) about nuffnang's history that i knew and how i knew tim. he/she(?) stressly said that nuffnang was launched sometime in october 2006... huh?!! duh!... eh halo... i know my memory is still very good occay? and that i felt like he/she(?) was trying to under discriminate me or something... blerk!

and tomorrow, without we realized it nuffnang will be turned two!

"two years later nuffnang has outstripped my wildest imagination, growing from an office in penang to have regional offices in kuala lumpur, singapore, manila and melbourne. the number of nuffnangers in the region had also grown from 75 on the first day of launch to over 80,000 as of february 2009."
—excerpts from tim's blog post on nuffnang's site. read more here.

to: timothy & ming,
no limits but the sky. may today's success be the beginning of tomorrow's achievements. congratulations!

nuffnang premiere screening, punisher: war zone

first of all, thank you so much to nuffnang that i managed to secure a pair of tickets to nuffnang premiere screening of punisher: war zone. i was one of the lucky 50 nuffnangers who won this by writing a slogan “If I’m the punisher, I’ll punish… those people who damaged Gaza!” hehee... simple as that, huh?!!

so like before, i didn't just go to kl for the premiere screening. of course i got some other errands to do, so i did everything all together in one shot hence my one night kl trip this time was truly packed with quite a number of agendas. what a co-incidence that rizal was there too for work matters. so i took the chance to invite him along.

dang wangi policce station

we were from the city. we had to drop by any of the stations along our way, cuz he has to do some work reports. since its gonna take a while, i just waited in the car. besides it was raining outside. the weather was rather good when we were reaching damansara area. earlier when rizal asked me of "how many tolls", i thought he was asking of how much is the toll charges. when were about to reach the toll near phileo damansara, i told him that the toll is about RM1. so tell me whether i was 'jakun' or not, when i saw him showed a receipt to the cashier. then i thought to myself, "oh no wonder ler... probably earlier he wanna prepare the receipts to get free tolls heheee..." but of course i didn't ask him, cuz i was acting to be smart lol...

and there's another incident at the cineleisure's car park when we reached there around 8.30 pm— rizal thought of just leaving his small bag in the car boot and asked me whether was it safe for him to leave it there. when asked, he told me that the contents were guns.

then i was like... "wheyyy... you better bring that with you ler!" *phew*

and walking with him especially when i knew that he carried guns, really make my heart beats faster like hell! i tell you...

so we went straight to the outpost cafe near the cineleisure to get the tickets. i saw quite a number of bloggers there. unfortunately i do not think i knew any of them. i was told by robb that bloggers were entitled to get 50% off on drinks there. i went back to rizal, who waited for me outside the cafe. he suggested that we went for dinner somewhere. we walked to little penang kafe at the curve. rizal ate char koay teow. while i had assam laksa, but rizal wallup it all since i can't finish it hmm... that just reminds me of our good 'ol days together weee... sorry guys... but being with an 'undercover' that night, i guess that he just ought to keep himself in disguise :) but he's already in his casual appearance... i dunno... we bumped in to timothy after dinner though, right in front of the little penang kafe.

anyhow i did snap some pics when we went back to the outpost cafe, but not as many as usual. rizal waited for me somewhere outside (again).

p/s my friend rizal carried real guns that night you know? ;)

the punisher: war zone picks up 6 years into the punisher storyline. frank Castle (ray stevenson), a.k.a. the punisher, continues to enforce his vigilante style of justice on mobster families in order to get the bad guys that always find a way to beat the system. during an attack on a mob party, the punisher unknowingly murders an undercover fbi informant and later in the same attack, he severley disfigures the face of one of the leading mafia gangsters - billy "the beaut" russoti. this facial mutilation leads the gangster to proclaim his new villain name, jigsaw. these two events set up the plot of the film as the punisher learns of his wrongful kill and his ensuing remorse leads him to want to leave the punishing business, but he can't because the monstrous looking mobster jigsaw is alive and seeks revenge on the fbi informant's wife and child and revenge on the punisher for being the cause of his disfigurement. predictably, the dead fbi informant's wife and child get kidnapped by jigsaw and in order to save them a huge war-like battle ensues between the punisher and jigsaw's army of mobsters, gang-bangers, and thugs.

this film falls under the marvel knights brand which is basically the grittier and darker division of marvel comics. marvel knights products are intended for a maturer 15 years or older audience so that the stories and characters may be re-envisioned without the limitations on explicit content that are in place with the regular marvel brand. the punisher: war zone definitely exercised pulp style violence and gore to the point of gratuitousness. perhaps the excessive and gratuitous violence will create box office interest because overall the story was predictable, the script and acting was painful at times, and the film was 20 minutes too long. i would recommend this film if you are in the mood for a mindless shoot 'em up massacre, otherwise wait for the dvd so that you have the options of fast forward or doing something else while you watch it.

g'day mate!

nuffnang is expanding to the aussie land after philippines... congratulations dudes! especially to the co-founder timothy tiah whom i first met in february last year at a penang blogger's meet. and now... we could all see the success of nuffnang since then i.e. +/- 21 months!

for those who dunno, nuffnang is a blog ad network where bloggers who sign up are served ads on their blogs. in many ways, similar to google adsense. bloggers receives payment from running ads sold by nuffnang. read more about nuffnang here. besides that, nuffnang also promotes heavily within the blogging community and run numerous events for bloggers. bloggers have the opportunity to be part of this nuffnang community through advertiser events, sampling, or just a simple nuffnang sharing session. check-out some of the events that i have attended here; plus many more to come insya-allah wohooo...

i am so glad being part of the nuffnangers. this must be new for some. but i find this circle of blogger friends are kinda unique one of all.

tqsm nuffnang, mwahh!!!...

nuffnang sharing session @ the apartment downtown

i have read some of the entries of the event that i went last saturday night, nuffnang sharing session at the apartment downtown. everyone agreed that it was truly a splendid event to be remembered indeed. there were about 25 of us nuffnang glitterati bloggers including two of them from the nuffnang office, robb and fairuz. that was my first time meeting fairuz though. he really reminds me of my cousin totam, whose now studying medical in medan.

everyone (mainly my mom, bah, and the kids) followed me to kl, but i dropped them at bukit bintang instead. my lil’ sis made a reservation to break fast with them at an arabic restaurant. while at the nuffnang sharing session, the invitation was for one pax only. the idea was for us to mingle around and get to know other bloggers. that’s the main reason of attending such events though. i guess i do not have any problem with that.

although i reached klcc a bit early, i managed to spend a little bit of time there and make sure that i headed straight to the apartment downtown right on time. i saw a few other people with robb (first met him at nuffnang wild "live" blogging), so i thought that they must be bloggers too. i managed to have a quick chat with robb and sultan muzaffar while waiting for the rest to come. wahhh… some of them came with all those DSLR. not me ler… am not good in those photography thingy, a little bit can lar hehee… well to all of you klites, you people can join my sister whose also the founder of kl flcikr; on the 3rd saturday of the months. i baked kl flickr cupcakes you know? for their first year anniversary meet-up ;)

alright enough of that. back to the nuffnang sharing session— the introduction speech was done by robb as timothy was in penang. then followed by a quick speech by the apartment downtown’s chef mr richard. i joined fairuz, myasefia and jannah during the break fast session. at this stage, you’ll know a blogger is a blogger when you could see almost everyone was like, snapping their food pics as soon as they placed their plates on the dining table. gosh… i should have captured that situation too! like i said before, the food were tremendously awesome. i specially lurveeeeeeeeee their apple and pear crumble. even the guys lurve it too occay? i also like their white mousse hmm… yummy… not forgetting one of their signature drink, flavoured coolers. i had more than two glasses of strawberry cooler, you know…

after break fast, we adjourned to the bar section at the first floor for a sharing session with sultan muzaffar and redmummy. blimey… i didn’t expect at all that each of us have to introduced ourselves too… hmm… on my part plak, ada ler a bit than nothing hehee… from what i understand, sultan muzaffar started blogging since 2002. he’s now working with astro, all because of his AF blog entries. see, even blogging can make you lead to such a great job. the important thing for us to remember is our desire to reach for the best. redmummy also shared with us a lilttle bit about her life, blogging experience etc. i like her courage to face all the “lalats” (lalat in malay is flies) in the blogosphere. those people were referred to as “lalat” cuz they were the one who can’t see other bloggers succeed :P dun worry redmummy, we are all right behind you!

we had a Q&A session after that with mr richard, followed by robb.

we were then been entertained by billy & tuxedo. they were such a great musician. its so nice to listen to them.

now juz look at the pics, i bet all you people can see of how great the event was—

tqsm nuffnang and the apartment downtown for such a great event.

kuE's note:
if you like this post, then you must check-out other's too—

penang bloggers meet, 25 feb. '07

i was there at the penang bloggers meet at e-gate starbucks. yea... i drove all the way from here. it was not a rare Qs for me, indeed. wow... it was the first, biggest and coolest ever bloggers meet that i have been! thanks to all of you bloggers that i met especially LogicYuan, the organiser. i could say that everyone were very sporting although most of us met for the first time. the above pics prove it all.

anyhow i 'tabik-spring' to you 5Xmom ler, for up-dating yours so fast one :P

megat and i reached e-gate around 10am. it was my first time there, parked my 4wd right in front of the starbucks. since i had an empty stomach, we headed straight to starbucks for breakfast. i didn't care already whether other bloggers already arrived or not. lapor (hungry) woh...

then i started to see millymin and CY. i knew already you two must have been there for the meet hehheee... then came LogicYuan and Koolz if i am not mistaken. there and then, more and more bloggers came, that we could easily identified each other via our dress-code (black, white and red). we adjourned out-door. unfortunately since the weather was rather hot, LogicYuan, with his 'selamba-dek' face, called everyone to go inside. the best thing was he dare to ask another patron to move outside to give way for us. i did not count the exact number of us who came but i bet you all know from the pics, that our group was big :D

although there was not much agenda, just chit-chatting and pics-taking session; the meets was wonderful. everyone really had a great time!

all of you people must have wondered, of how come puteri's face not there. she was too shy to join us at the last minute. i guess maybe she read from the list that there will be quite a number of guys too lol... its alright dear, maybe next time ya?

read and view more pics (more to add, after others have up-dated theirs)

kuE's note: if anyone of you penang bloggers meet have up-dated your blog, please let me know so that i could add more links here ;)
