hmm... whatever it is, i don't care... i wanna go to a spa session very very sooooonnnnnnnnnnnn... or maybe to the jerejak island resort? i have been wanted to go there but didn't have the chance yet warrggghhhhh!!!.....

happy chap goh meh

happy chap goh meh everyone! it's officially the last day of chinese new year, so i guess it's another year to come for celebrating chinese new year. most family will gather for a dinner again and probably tossing the "yee sang" to see who can get it up the highest.

chap goh meh (十五暝) also known as the 15th day of the lunar new year celebrations which means today is the last day of the chinese new year. how time passes. just a blink of an eye and 15 days have passed. where have all that time gone!!

the term chap goh meh is from the hokkien dialect and refers to the fifteenth day of the first month, which is the occasion of the first full moon of the new year.

the occasion is marked by feasting and various festivities, including the consumption of tangyuan. in traditional chinese culture, it is also celebrated as the lantern festival or the shang yuan festival.

however, it coincides with the chinese valentine's day. it is also when young unmarried women gather to toss tangerines into the sea, in a hope that their future spouse will pick it up – a custom that originated in penang. in the past, this was also the only day that unmarried ladies could be seen with their partners.

Going Bananas

Bananas... This is very interesting.
After Reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at a banana in the same way again -

Bananas. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana.
This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia :
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure.

So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power:
200 students at aTwickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power.

Research has shown! that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweeten! ed with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and
re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work?
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD):
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking:
! Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes:
According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine "eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by
strokes by as much as 40%!"

Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the
yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.

So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,
"A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

PASS THIS ON TO ALL OF YOUR ON-LINE FRIENDS and FAMILY

PS :
Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!

新年快乐

for those who are not familiar with chinese astrology, this is the "Year of the Rat", and it begins today.

in western culture (synonymous with the "rat race"), it's surprising indeed that the appearance of this redoubtable rodent is so unwelcome, except perhaps on halloween.

this light-hearted lens is dedicated to all things "rat" -- be it "rat cheese", "ratafia", or "ratatouille"!

the Rat (chinese:) was welcomed in ancient times as a protector and bringer of material prosperity. it is the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the chinese zodiac related to the chinese calendar. rat is associated with aggression, wealth, charm, and order, yet also associated with death, war, the occult, pestilence, and atrocities. the Year of the Rat is associated with the earthly branch symbol .

in chinese, the word may refer to either the rat or the mouse. therefore, in this context, year of the Mouse and year of the Rat are interchangeable terms.

source from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. read more about this topic here.

-----

its an honor to be born a rat!

rats have been given a bad rap in western culture, judging from pejorative terms like "he's a rat fink!", or "i don't give a rat's ass what you think!"

in china, the rat is a respected intuitive creature, synonymous with courage and an enterprising character. rats know how to come up with solutions, take care of themselves and others without problems.

besides being curious and intelligent with a vivid imagination, rats are very lively and need oodles of attention (mental and physical stimulation).

to sum it up, the positive side of the rat personality includes being easy-going, smart, magnetic, quick witted and well-liked! on the flip side, rats have also been known to be a tad cool, calculating, selfish, and protective when they're not in top form.

what motivates Rats? you guessed it -- money and status :o)

"Earth Rats" (those born in 1948 and 2008), are said to be very honorable folk who love to do things around the home and enjoy a stable life. although a titch stingy with their moolah, they are cheerful with friends although are prone to stress.

for more on the little known life of ratties, and what to expect from these ripsnorting rodents in 2008, don't hesitate to check out what makes a rat tick!

__________

note: persons born within the following date ranges can be said to have been born in the "Year of the Rat":

feb. 18, 1912- feb. 5, 1913
feb. 5, 1924 - Jan. 24, 1925
jan. 24, 1936 - feb. 10, 1937
feb. 10, 1948 - jan. 28, 1949
jan. 28, 1960 - feb. 14, 1961
feb. 15, 1972 - feb. 2, 1973 (ehem...)
feb. 2, 1984 - feb. 19, 1985
feb. 19, 1996 - feb. 6, 1997

i would like to wish a
Happy & Most Prosperous Chinese Year
of the Rat (SuZi) to all...

calling malacca...

wow... finally i can sit down here and load the weekend pics and all...

it was really a hectic weekend for me. i reached kl in the afternoon on saturday. i headed straight to V's office. we had so many stuff/thingy to catch up... told ya people that V and i haven't meet for almost a year! after a few hours we went off our own separate ways with our own agenda of the day.

while yesterday i went for a day trip to malacca (jasin to be exact) for our new AM's wedding reception. nizam and aznan fetched me at KD with aznan's d-max. it was really comfortable indeed even though i sat at the back. although i have to force myself to put my leg up (take note that i am only about 5'2" tall) for me to enter the truck, but i like... especially when i feel like i am on top of the world. as usual, the guys teased me like no one business blerk!

we were glad indeed that we got a very good sits ever at a "kampung" wedding. the bride's entourage was not there yet when we came. so the groom forced himself to be at the main entrance to greet his work friends while waiting, as none of the local people there knows any of us, who eventually came all the way from klcc, ipoh, kuale (moi), prai, also not forgetting all those friends that really could understand each others feelings... came from far [hehe... what ler i typed earlier, maybe i was sleepy that time lol...].

i assume that its really gonna be the talk-of-the-jasin-town especially when everywhere people ought to talk about ning and omar's kampung theme wedding --i read somewhere that the hall has been transformed to a cute village named kampung nekmat (go here to read about it in ning's manager' blog). what a co-incidence also when this couple (our AM)'s wedding done in a true kampung environment. i guess this one was more lively, cuz its done outdoor. everyone in the neighbourhood helped with the kenduri (malaysian for 'ceremony' or 'celebration'). i even saw a few kawah with lots of lauks. darn!... i should have taken some pics of that too ;) grr...

here i leave you people with some pics--

the little cute ones...

congratulations to the newly bride & groom...

oopsss... he saw me taking his pics blerk!...

the local kompang group in red, as the theme...
