the day malaysia should be proud of saladin

sorry can't help myself ― this news is just too mind-blowing!

i was browsing online, and once in a while of course checked my fb. when suddenly stunned and still feel very happy and proud to find out that the "saladin" animated tv series have just been nominated for the international emmy awards!

my lil' bro was one of the crew handled the voice casting and direction, music scoring, sound design and mixing.

this is the freaking emmys people! tv's highest honour. just to be nominated out of thousands of children's programmes... malaysia should be proud of it.

well done team imaginex ― "saladin" sounds great! read more here and here.

birthday shout-out to my lil' bro...

"strong, silent & 100% dependable, boon's one of our most experienced audio engineers, with 10 years and over a thousand tv, radio & cinema ads to his credit.

boon handled location sound for oscar-winning director oliver stone's motorola "wireless" tv commercial, and was music engineer for award-winning malaysian feature film "puteri gunung ledang". more recently, he sound-designed a 12th century naval battle for the trailer "saladin" (go here for the official website), a 3d animation tv showcase project by the malaysian government. boon is already cracking his knuckles in preparation working on the upcoming tv series.

he's a sound guy, in every sense of the word. from the futsal cage to the mixing table, boon's the man we want on our side!"

both the pic and statement about him above have been extracted from the company's website. you really make us proud bro. and now that you are 32--

my brother and me...
doing our own thing, but respecting each other all the way...
giving each other space, but being there when it counts...
not always together, but always connected...

that's us.
thinking of you on your birthday

kuE's note:
i like the pic sooo much. from what i know, his boss snapped the pic with his (boss) own camera fon. can you imagine people... that lil' bro used to have very long hair, longer than mine *glurp* when he first started his career in the music industry.

of saladin & pada hari yang indah

SALADIN

this animated series started today on astro ria at 1.30pm. unfortunately it was screened around 2pm as the previous programme end late. it will be continued tomorrow at the same time. while my lil' bro was featured in the programme di balik tabir... (the making of...) saladin yesterday. congratulations! you make us all proud of you mwahh...

"saladin is inspired by the life of one of islam's most legendary figures who elicited admiration in both east and west salah al-din yusuf ibn ayyub, or saladin, united the muslim world at a time when the muslim factions were in dissarray.

saladin's unwavering devotion to islam has led him to set out to conquer jerusalem, a holy city to muslims, christians and jews, which thus sparked the third crusade (a.d. 1187- 1192). it was here that saladin gained his lasting legacy as a chivalrous the city in a humane and orderly fashion.

saladin's stunning military victories and diplomatic success against the west, has earned him a remarkable place in history. his life has been the subject of enduring fascination for western writers, including modern novelists, as the archetypal muslim hero warrior."

PADA HARI YANG INDAH

this drama, has been screened on tv3 last tuesday, 9pm specially for merdeka. its about a malay family who always make sure that his children gathered at their hometown in kuala kangsar (ehem...) during the country's national day. this year the father was lucky that he got the chance to meet his childhood friends ah meng and raju. there were also some flash back of their life during malaysia's independence day in 1957.

most kampung (village) scenes were shot in kuale itself i.e. with places like our home (hehe...), yut loy, my school etc. people of kuale were kinda proud of it. ya... just imagine people, of all the places in malaysia, why on earth umno (yes! if you look at it properly, the whole idea of the drama was by umno) chose kuale.

rizal sms me that night, when we were watching the drama.
it seems that he missed kuale so much, what when some of the shots were done here at home ;)

while to kay, i am so sorry sis. i forgot to tell you earlier about this. luckily you tuned in to tv3 that night ek? lol... in her sms, kay told me that she was so excited when suddenly she realized that it was actually our home in the drama :P
